It has been confirmed that the 2008 Belgian Open trophy has been won by world number 35 Ricky Walden who defeated 2006 World Champion Graeme Dott 4-0 in the final.
Taking home €5,000 for the trouble, this will more than make up for defeat in the Pontin’s Open last week and sends Ricky into the Grand Prix qualifiers this week full of confidence.
Although seemingly defeated today, it has also been a good week for runner-up Graeme Dott who has again shown signs of getting back into some sort of form. Hopefully this will spur him onto greater things, starting with the upcoming Shanghai Masters tournament at the end of the month.
