PartyPoker.com Premier League Snooker 2008: Night Four Results

Night four of the Premier League is currently underway as Ronnie O’Sullivan meets Ding Junhui and in in-firm Mark Selby looks to extend his lead at the top against Steve Davis. Click below to find check on the results, though the full match reviews will come later as I have not been able to watch all of the action live tonight…

Match One: O’Sullivan blitzes poor Ding

The first match of the evening ended in a whitewash as Ronnie O’Sullivan bounced back from defeat in the Shanghai Masters final on Sunday to crush China’s Ding Junhui 6-0. Making two centuries along the way, Ding never got into the match having wasted an opportunity to win the first frame as the four time defending champion showed why he is the man to beat in this competition.

From Matchroom Sport:

“Not too bad for a night’s work, it’s nearly what I got for a whole week in China,” said O’Sullivan, referring to his runners-up performance in the Shanghai Masters.

“Ding had a few chances and could’ve nicked the first frame but I’m happy with how I played.”

O’Sullivan will next be in League action on October 23rd as he comes up against Steve Davis while Ding now has a break until November 6th when he will face Joe Perry in Newport.

Match Two: Selby continues to set the standard

Despite O’Sullivan’s heavy win it is Mark Selby who extends his lead at the top of the table however as he made it three wins from three in the 2008 Premier League with the second whitewash of the evening against veteran Steve Davis.

Selby now moves two points clear of second placed Joe Perry and already looks certain to qualify for the play-offs in December as Davis remains on zero points and it is hard to see where he is going to get the points he will need at the moment.

Selby’s next appearance will come on October 30th when he plays Ronnie O’Sullivan in what promises to be the match of the tournament against arguably the two most in-form players in the game right now. Davis meanwhile will also come up against O’Sullivan next, exactly a week earlier at the Plymouth Pavillions.
