China Open 2009: All to play for as Ebdon holds slender advantage

It was always going to be a close final and so it has proved as Peter Ebdon goes into the evening session with a narrow 5-4 lead over John Higgins…

After a high quality first session, Peter Ebdon leads 5-4 against John Higgins going into the evening session in China. You can read the match report over here in full at World Snooker, but it sounds like John will actually be quite relieved to get out just one frame behind having ‘lost his way’ during part of the session.

Initially when the finalists were confirmed yesterday I felt that Higgins would be the favourite but ever since I have been leaning more and more towards Peter. He has just looked inspired this week and has probably played the most consistent snooker. In John’s favour though is that he has generally been the better player this season and he has had by far the tougher route to the final having already seen off Ronnie O’Sullivan and Ryan Day.

It is going to be an interesting evening session, keep an eye on my twitter page for updates as the match progresses…
