As you can see there are a number of interesting opening round ties, clashes between old and young players such as Tony Drago v Li Hang, as well as an intriguing all-Asia match up between Xiao Guodong and Thepchaiya Un-nooh.

If Jimmy White is to continue his climb back up the rankings then he is going to have to do it the hard way and potentially face friend David Gray in his first match, before coming through against Andrew Higginson and Dave Harold to reach the TV stages. Fellow veteran John Parrott will also have his work cut out with the likes of recent English Open champion Stuart Bingham standing in his path.

Further along the draw it should also be pointed out that with Ricky Walden elevated to the top seed as defending champion, world number 16 Mark King will be forced to qualify as he looks to get his season off to a good start. Should he win however, he will face Walden in the last 32.

Incidentally feedback would be appreciated on my drawsheet page if possible!
