A quick post to bring your attention to a typically forthright article from Clive Everton on the state of snooker that will be published in the Guardian today…

For readers of Snooker Scene there is nothing new in Clive’s article but being in the mainstream press perhaps it will catch the eye of fans those who do not follow the sport so closely.
I find it hard to disagree with much of what he says, though unfortunately it is evident that there is no easy solution to the problems with snooker at the moment and that the situation is not going to improve overnight.
It is interesting to hear that 35 of the top 64 players have signed up to the Snooker Players Association, a decent number but given what such a body could achieve for the players, I am surprised that it is not yet a little higher. Once the body is properly established and really takes off, I do wonder how receptive the WPBSA will be to their ideas and whether they can really make a difference.
Would be interested to hear your views on this one and indeed the future direction of the sport full stop…
