Night eight of the Premier League as Ronnie O’Sullivan takes on Judd Trump, while Marco Fu and Neil Robertson also lock horns. Click below for live updates from 7:30pm GMT…

Marco Fu 2-4 Neil Robertson

54-14, 19-84(42), 41(34)-71(46), 95(90)-0, 63(37)-70(50), 58-60

F1: And we are underway in the first of tonight’s clashes which sees the 2006 and 2009 Grand Prix champion Neil Robertson take on the 2007 winner Marco Fu.

First chance falls to Marco following a missed red from distance by Neil. All but out of the tournament, the pressure is off Marco to some extent and it will be interesting to see if he can finally find some form in this year’s competition…

He could only make 22 from that opportunity and now we are seeing a very protracted period of safety…which has been won by Neil Robertson, but a horrendous kick on a pink has handed the chance straight to Marco, but he is not playing well and the struggle goes on with three reds remaining…and eventually Marco has taken it to lead 1-0.

F2: Let’s hope that frame two is a more entertaining affair…though again the early signs are that it might be another scrappy one…

Some poor stuff but a moment of quality from Neil to split the bunch of reds from the black has given him an excellent chance to level the match…and he duly does. 1-1 after 46 minutes!

F3: First chance to Robertson but he has come unstuck and with the reds scattered, Marco has a real chance to win the frame in one visit…but he just cannot get going at the moment, not for the first time this year unfortunately and has broken down on 40. Neil has not played too well himself but I fancy him to be in the lead by the time his opponent next comes to the table, if at all…and that’s 2-1 to the Australian, without playing near his best.

F4: Another miss by Fu, this time a red to the right-centre, looked like it might be costly but he managed to get in again and finally show some form with a nice break of 90. 2-2…

F5: It looked like Marco was on a roll as he got in first with a fluked red to make 37, but Neil has got back to the table and made 50 to lead narrowly with two reds remaining…

Very interesting, Marco now leads 63-50 with just pink and black remaining, and now Neil has played a table-length double very similar to the one he attempted on the black against John Higgins in their memorable Grand Prix semi – except this time it has gone in! In goes the black and we have a re-spotted black…and sensationally Neil doubles it into the green pocket again! Highlight of the match by a distance and he leads 3-2.

F6: The final frame is following the pattern of the preceding five, being very close and looking like it will be decided by the colours…

Brilliant long red from Marco however, his best shot of the night. Can he deny Robertson one of the two points that he desperately needs?

Incredible finish, having potted the final red it looked like he had done, but  he missed the colour and gave Neil another chance. Neil however missed the yellow and when Marco potted this to leave him needing a snooker, 3-3 looked a near certaintly once again.

Oh no. Marco then played a shocking shot on the green to go in-off in the left-middle and as Robertson cleared the balls, he found himself faced with another double on the final black, this time to that left-centre pocket.  Having got two already he was not going to shy away from it and rightfully so, he hit it at pace into the cushion and back across the table straight into the heart of the pocket to secure an incredible 4-2 victory.

Strange match, the first four frames were very dull but then the match just sprung to life. A crucial win for Neil but a worrying performance from Marco, he really did look all at sea tonight, summing up his 2009 Premier League campaign unfortunately…

Ronnie O’Sullivan 2-4 Judd Trump

33(33)-80(67), 93(49,44)-8, 0-79(79), 20-81(50), 65(42)-69, 87(50,37)-8

F1: So we are underway and first in with a chance to score is young Judd Trump. Will be interesting to see how he gets on tonight.

67 from Judd and it looked like he might go on to make a century but a miss on what would have been frame ball gave Ronnie a chance to counter. He is now 34 behind with 35 on as the two exchange safeties…

But that settles it from Judd, a very nice swerve shot to pot that remaining red and secure a 1-0 advantage early on…

F2: Ronnie is immediately looking to draw level, sending a loose red into the yellow pocket and leaving himself in prime position already…four reds, four blacks, maximum on his mind? Not anymore, a near-miss on the black leaft him awkward on the next red and though he potted it, he could not get through to pot any colour, never mind the black.

All of the reds scattered now and Judd has managed to create an opportunity…though on just 8 he has been denied by a very nasty kick. Looks like 1-1 for sure now…

F3: Trump’s turn to go for a maximum but he’s thinking only of the frame at the moment and though he has taken a green, the break goes on past 50 with reds available…the break ends on 79 but that is more than enough to go back into the lead at 2-1…

F4: This is very impressive, Judd in again and past 50 in no time…but he has missed on 51. Can O’Sullivan make him pay? No is the answer, he has been almost completely shut out so far tonight and it is showing. This is very, very impressive from Judd who will go home tonight with at least a point now…

F5: Good response from O’Sullivan, a couple of misses but Judd for the first time tonight misjudged a couple and looked a little tense. Should be 3-2 barring a snooker…

Not only has Judd got the snooker however, he has got two and now can win! Which thanks largely to a brilliant shot on the final green he does to lead 4-1. Sensational shot, sensational performance from the youngster. He might have struggled in the qualifiers against Marcus Campbell so far this season but he has flourished in front of the SkySports cameras…

F6: A poor shot from Judd however gives O’Sullivan an early opportunity to get some points on the board in frame six…and though he cannot win it in one visit, 4-2 looks likely now he is in again with more than enough reds in the open…and it is.

But the man of the night is unquestionably Judd Trump who was very, very impressive…
