Hendry and Ebdon sign up for 6-Red World Championship

Back in August I posted about the inaugural 6-Red World Championship which will take place in Killarney this December and three months on, the entry list is shaping up to be rather tasty…

It has been confirmed today that seven-times world champion Stephen Hendry and the man who beat him in the 2002 final Peter Ebdon are the latest high-profile names to sign up for the four-day event. This means that there will now be twelve members of the top 16 involved:

  • Stephen Maguire
  • Shaun Murphy
  • John Higgins
  • Ryan Day
  • Mark Selby
  • Neil Robertson
  • Stephen Hendry
  • Mark Allen
  • Joe Perry
  • Peter Ebdon
  • Mark Williams
  • Mark King

In addition there will be at least a further 40 more professionals, while the organisers also hope to secure the entries of some of the outstanding PIOS and international players to really complete the field.

Some will never be won over by the 6-red format but the fact that players of the standing of Stephen Hendry, John Higgins and Peter Ebdon are willing to take part is a big endorsement to the tournament and will help to really generate interest in it.

Stay tuned to their official website over at http://www.6redworldchampionships.com/ for the latest.
