World Cup 2011: Teams Announced

Following on from my previous post confirming the 19 competing nations at the 2011 World Cup, World Snooker have now confirmed who will be representing each of the teams. Well almost, Brazil’s second player has not been confirmed yet, but to see who will be lining up, please click below…

Top eight seeds

Wales: Mark Williams and Matthew Stevens
Scotland: John Higgins and Stephen Maguire
England: Mark Selby and Ali Carter
China: Ding Junhui and Liang Wenbo
Australia: Neil Robertson and Steve Mifsud
Northern Ireland: Mark Allen and Gerard Greene
Hong Kong: Marco Fu and Fung Kwok Wai
Republic of Ireland: Ken Doherty and Fergal O’Brien

Host teams

Thailand A: James Wattana and Dechawat Poomjaeng
Thailand B: Passakorn Sunwannawat and Thepchaiya Un-nooh

Wild cards

Germany: Patrick Einsle and Lasse Münstermann
Brazil: Itaro Santos and one other TBC

Qualifiers

Belgium: Bjorn Haneveer and Luca Brecel

Format

As previously announced, the tournament will be staged in Thailand between the 11th-17th July 2011 and will see the 20 teams drawn into four groups of five with the top two in each group progressing to the quarter-finals. Each match will include singles and doubles frames.
