A quick note to let you know that World Snooker have today published the entry lists for the next five PTC events which you can view by clicking here. I have not yet had time to go through the entry lists and play the game of ‘spot the absentees’ but it is noticeable that the likes of Ronnie O’Sullivan, Ding Junhui, Mark Selby and Mark Williams have opted out of the final event to be held before the first mid-season seedings cut-off point, the PTC6 in Poland.
Also absent is Stephen Hendry in a move which could well cost him a place at the Masters in January.

Hendry will need to reach the Quarter Finals in shanghai to stand a chance of serviving especially as he is missing for PTC 6.

PTCs outside UK are small, but better than last season.
PTC6 in Warsaw: 162 (85 pros, 77 amateurs)
PTC8 in Ireland: 152 (96 pros, 56 amateurs)
PTC9 in Belgium: 151 (95 pros, 56 amateurs)

I think its interesting, that the PTCs outside the UK have alternative names, but the ones in the UK don’t (except the EPTC4 last season).
This season:
PTC4 = Paul Hunter Classic
PTC6 = Warsaw Classic
PTC8 = Alex Higgins International Trophy
BTW, the draw and order of play has been released for PTC6 (http://www.worldsnooker.com/page/NewsArticles/0,,13165~2440012,00.html)

I think overseas there is a bigger emphasis on selling tickets and it probably makes it easier to do so if the events have a name, an identity so to speak. Just a guess anyway.
