Day two in Galway and without doubt the result of the day was victory for Welsh youngster Jamie Jones against John Higgins, having at one stage trailed 3-1. Due to work commitments today I am unable to post a full review of the day’s action, however please find below the usual links to the updated drawsheet and projected seedings:
In short however, Jamie’s win today was a terrific result for a player closing in on a place inside the top 32 following another consistent season to date, while inevitably more questions will be asked of an out of sorts John Higgins with the defence of his world title rapidly approaching.
Elsewhere, results so far have gone as the rankings would have indicated, victories for Ding Junhui, Stephen Lee and Neil Robertson seeing them advance, while at the time of writing Graeme Dott and Joe Perry are locked at 2-2.
Check back tomorrow for a more comprehensive round-up, while I am also hoping to have the live chat up and running at some stage over the weekend…
