As you may have heard in recent weeks, a number of snooker professionals including Steve Davis, Shaun Murphy and Peter Ebdon are set to run in the upcoming Sheffield half-marathon, with the aim of raising money for The Paul Hunter Foundation, always an excellent cause. Click below for all of the details…
Set to take place on Sunday 27th May 2012, the Sheffield half-marathon begins at the Don Valley Stadium at 9:00am and will span the streets of Sheffield before eventually finishing up back at the Stadium.
As explained on the Foundation website, the team are taking part to raise funds for the delivery of free snooker sessions for able bodied, disadvantaged and disabled youngsters across the UK and Ireland, in line with Paul’s wishes when he set up the Paul Hunter Foundation shortly before he passed away.
The full entry list can be found at the Paul Hunter Foundation website but among those involved, together with their donation pages are as follows:
- Steve Davis
- Shaun Murphy
- Andrew Higginson
- Michael Holt
- Alfie Burden
- Matt Selt
- Ben Harrison
- Paul Hunter Foundation – Main Page
As well as these, Steve Davis will also be auctioning a waistcoat signed by all of the players competing in the ongoing World Championship on Ebay next week, details of which will follow in due course.
It goes without saying that this is a terrific cause and that I wish the best of luck to all of the players and other people who will be raising money for the Foundation by competing in the race.
