Following Mark Allen’s victory at the Paul Hunter Classic last weekend, all has been quiet on the snooker front and of course that is due to the fact that the AT2 event, previously scheduled to take place this week, has not gone ahead for reasons unspecified by World Snooker.
Next week however, a number of top professionals and amateurs return to action at the 6 Red World Championship event in Thailand, which takes up its customary spot in the calendar ahead of the following week’s Shanghai Masters.
You can view the draw for the event here and consider whether anyone will be able to stop Mark Davis, who has won this event during each of the past two seasons, in addition to an alternative Six Red World Championship event back in 2009.
While not as compelling to watch for me as the full 15 red version of the game (see my thoughts from back in 2012 here), it is nevertheless interesting to watch and with the likes of Mark Selby, Shaun Murphy, John Higgins, Stephen Maguire, Joe Perry, Barry Hawkins, Ricky Walden and Stuart Bingham in action, a strong field to keep an eye on.
The tournament will be televised on British Eurosport, but looking at the schedules for mainland Europe, not elsewhere.
The action runs for a week, with the final to take place next Saturday.
