European Tour Heading To Lisbon?

Murphy

In recent months the location of this season’s fifth European Tour event scheduled for 12-14 December 2014 has been something of a mystery, but according to the German version of Eurosport’s website at least, the cat would now appear to be out of the bag, with the tournament set to be the first staged in Lisbon, Portugal.

There is also speculation here at Snooker Island, which links to an article which according to Google translate at least, suggests that the event was originally scheduled to be held in Ukraine, before being switched to Portugal.

Those of you with a good memory will remember that the final of the ill-fated World Series of Snooker was staged in Portimão back in 2009 when Shaun Murphy defeated John Higgins to lift the title, but if Eurosport is correct, this European Tour event will be the first professional event to be staged in Portugal.

Official confirmation will follow, as and when it comes from the governing body…
