Earlier today, the draw was released (thanks to @snookerthailand.net) for the upcoming SangSom 6 Red World Championship, as Stephen Maguire returns to Bangkok to defend the title that he on six months ago.
Taking place between 7-12 September 2015, ahead of the Shanghai Masters, the draw sees its usual mix of top ranked players and promising amateurs, who will initially have to battle through a group stage before the tournament reverts to a knock-out format.
In terms of notable names, as well as Maguire we will see the likes of Stuart Bingham, Mark Selby, Judd Trump, Ding Junhui, Mark Allen, Joe Perry, Marco Fu and Mark Williams in action, plus John Higgins, Anthony McGill, Michael White and other highly ranked professionals.
On the amateur front, Welshman Jamie Clarke, so close to earning a main tour card on so many occasions this year has also been invited, while World Cup winner Yan Bingtao will also be involved.
Perhaps the name that has generated most interest so far however is that of Peter Francisco, the 53-year-old South African who was once ranked as high as 14, before famously being banned from competing for five years following his controversial match with Jimmy White at the 1995 World Championship.
We have seen his name appear a few times in amateur competitions in recent years, particularly at his national championship that he has won on a number of occasions, but there will no doubt be intrigue to see how he gets on against current professionals at a big money event such as this.
