The highlights of day one was a superb 132 clearance by 15 year old Ross Muir from Musselborough in Scotland. Muir’s break came against Liam Sanders from Wales.
Hong Kong’s four young players notched 4 wins, with Ming Wah Man winning both his matches.
A strong contingent of youngsters from the West of England made their presence felt. Jay Bullen recovered from 2-0 adrift to beat Welsh lad Samuel Thomas 3-2 and added a 3-0 win over Cirencester’s Philip Ellis. Devonians Michael Rogers and Dan Legassic put their first wins on the board.
From the South of England Shane Castle led the way, firing in breaks of 90 and 71 in two wins. Jordan Winbourne also won two matches and Adam Bobat, also from Southampton added another win to the Soton total.
Llanelli’s Jamie Clarke added two wins for the Welsh, as did Cardiff’s Callum Lloyd. Liam Sanders and Travis Furnish, the Welsh Under 16 Number one, both won one and lost one match.
