Another day, another draw as today World Snooker have published the full 98 man draw for this season’s German Masters which will again be staged in Berlin…
As is the norm here at PSB, a full tournament preview will follow closer to the time but there are just a couple of points to note at this stage.
The first is that although the qualifiers will take place next month, well before the second mid-season seedings revision, the points from the event will not be added until the third mid-season cut-off, after the full venue stage has been completed. As a result I will not be adding the points earned at the qualifiers to the current projected seedings table, instead waiting until following the second revision.
Another point that has been raised a few times now is just how are the players selected for the pre-qualifying rounds, eg Lucky Vatnani, Dechawat Poomjaeng, Daniel Wells and Luca Brecel for this event. Prior to the start of the season I had assumed that the four lowest seeded players at each cut-off would be forced to play the extra match but with Poomjaeng and Brecel for example somewhat higher up the list, this does not seem to be the case. Can anybody shed any light on this?
Incidentally, World Snooker also today confirmed the draw for the qualifying rounds of PTC9 and you can view that here.
