Hot on the heels of yesterday’s ET1 draw, World Snooker have today released the drawsheets for the first two full-ranking events of the 2013/14 season, the Wuxi Classic and Australian Goldfields Open…

As was the case yesterday, I have updated my latest projected seedings list to reflect the various entries and non-entries, though note that in respect of the Australian Goldfields Open, until the top 16 entrants are confirmed, I have provisionally allocated 700 points to those who may be seeded through to Bendigo.

What can we say? In terms of the Wuxi Classic, this is of course the first full-ranking event which will be played under the new ‘flat draw’ system and despite the qualifiers taking place in the month of May, it is good to see that the vast majority of professionals have entered the tournament.

Notable absentees include Stephen Maguire and Mark Davis, while a number of the new overseas players to the tour have also elected not to enter.

As for Australia, there are a few more non-entrants compared to Wuxi, unsurprisingly given the lower levels of prize money available, in relation to the distance required to travel to the venue stage in Bendigo. The position there will become somewhat clearer once the names of the seeded players have been confirmed.

You will notice that in respect of both events, due to there being fewer than 128 professional entrants, certain players have been marked as ‘top up’ players, who will be made up of those selected from the final Q School Order of Merit, as was the case last season.
