Day Three from Asia and the conclusion of the group stages of the Sangsom Six Red tournament over in Thailand, while the Beijing International continues to progress…
Beijing International Challenge
The penultimate day of group matches over in Beijing has now been completed and heading into tomorrow, all is still to play for. In Group A, Stephen Hendry kept himself in contention for a semi-final place with a hard fought victory over Ali Carter in a match which went the distance. Next up for him is world number 60 Jin Long who pulled off a great victory against countryman Liang Wenbo today.

Over in Thailand however, the groups have now been completed and we can see who has made it to the knockout stages. The final tables are not quite clear at the time of writing as Global Snooker has not updated the results in full, so I am not sure how exactly the last 32 draw will look, but hopefully this will be confirmed in the near future.
All in all while there have been a number of surprising results during the last few days, with four players advancing from each group, the vast majority of the big names have been able to ease through.
The only exception to this rule however is Welsh Open finalist Joe Swail who despite winning against Yutaka Fukada, was able to finish no higher than fifth in the group behind Issara Kachaiwong, Mohammed Shehab, Joe Perry and Jimmy White.
Otherwise things have gone largely as expected, Atthasit Mahitthi moving up from bottom of Group H into a qualifying position with two late wins as tipped yesterday, joining the other professionals in what is a high quality line-up for the rest of the tournament.
