Ford Hits Stunning Maximum at ET4
Click here to watch the break on YouTube
Congratulations to Leicester’s Tom Ford, who has just made his second career maximum break during his last 32 match against Matthew Stevens at the ET4 event in Bulgaria. Coming from his very first shot, Tom looked to be fully in control throughout the break and despite at least three kicks during it, never looked like missing.
The biggest hurdle came as he potted the last difficult red down the right-side cushion, only to suffer a kick and leave the cue ball low on the black. Tom though played a terrific shot to send the cue ball in and out of baulk, missing the baulk colours and leaving himself on the next red.
The maximum is Tom’s second in professional competition, the first having come in 2007 at the Grand Prix against Steve Davis, and earns him £2,500 from the rolling prize fund, unless somebody else makes another during this event.
The break was officiated by Nico De Vos, marking the first time that he has been in charge of a 147.

Congratulations to Ireland’s Ken Doherty, who today made the 90th maximum break in professional competition and the first of his 22-year professional career.
The max came during frame three of his 4-0 victory against Germany’s Julian Treiber, and provided it is not equalled during the remaining two days of the event, will earn the former world champion £1,500 from the rolling prize fund…

Fu Hits Second Career Max In World Open Qualifiers
Congratulations to Marco Fu who has this morning made the second maximum break of his professional career in the sixth frame of his last 48 match against Matt Selt. The 86th 147 in professional competition and the first of 2012, the break puts Marco 4-2 ahead and at the time of writing within a frame of a place at the venue. Provided that nobody else makes one in the competition, the break will also earn Marco a £500 bonus, though given the recent flurry of maximum breaks that is hardly something that can be taken for granted.
As a side-note, the break also represents the fourth professional 147 officiated by referee Andy Yates, following those of Tom Ford, Liang Wenbo and Kurt Maflin in previous seasons.

Cope Hits Third Career Max
Congratulations to Jamie Cope who has tonight made the third maximum break of his career against Kurt Maflin, becoming the latest player to have made a 147 break during this recent flurry that we are seeing in the professional game.
The 85th maximum break on record, this one lifts Cope into a select group of six players to have made three or more during their professional careers and earns him a £250 share of the maximum prize for this event following Ding Junhui’s effort yesterday.
