Ding Junhui has today underlined his status in the game as one of the men to beat at the moment with a superb 9-5 victory against Judd Trump to capture the 2014 German Masters this evening.
They won in different ways today, but the two men who have been tournament co-favourites since at least the last 16 stage following the early exits of the likes of Neil Robertson and Mark Selby have now made it through to the final of the 2014 German Masters.

Following Neil Robertson’s victory at the UK Championship, the snooker circuit was back in action this week at the Barnsley Metrodome for the final matches of 2013, as the round of 128 of the German Masters and Haikou World Open events were played out.

It’s catching, little more than 24 hours after Dechawat Poomjaeng made a maximum 147 break, Gary Wilson has tonight repeated the feat, during the fourth frame of his German Masters qualifier against Ricky Walden.
As a result, Gary will take a half-share of the rolling 147 prize of £2,500 away from Poomjaeng, while at the time of writing he stands level with Walden (who was also the opponent for Mark Selby’s max last week of course), at their mid-session interval at 2-2.

Just four days after Mark Selby made the 100th maximum break in professional snooker at the UK Championship, today saw Thailand’s Dechawat Poomjaeng follow suit with 147 number 101 in Barnsley.
Playing in the German Masters qualifiers against amateur Zak Surety today, Dechawat made his first career 147 break during the fourth frame, to take a 3-1 lead at the mid-session interval.
Poomjaeng’s effort earns him a bonus of £2,500, while he also went on to claim a 5-3 victory to book his place at the venue stages in Berlin.
The referee was also the first officiated by referee Greg Coniglio, who joins the list of referees to have presided over a maximum in professional snooker.

Following yesterday’s latest seedings revision this 2013/14 season, today has seen the drawsheets for the German Masters and Haikou World Open tournaments issued by World Snooker, with a four day stint in Barnsley set to start on Wednesday to determine who will go to each venue.
