The Big Jason Ferguson Interview – Part One

While Barry Hearn as the chairman of World Snooker is the man responsible for commercial side of professional snooker, the man at the head of the sport’s regulatory body, the WPBSA, is former world number 28 Jason Ferguson, who since his re-election to the board as chairman in July 2010, has overseen a period of unprecedented change in professional snooker.

Three years on, I sat down with Jason this week at the Crucible to discuss a number of subjects, including flat draws, money based ranking lists, the Crucible, burn out, snooker in schools, the amateur game, wildcards, and much, much more.

2014 German Masters Format Leaked, Power Snooker Off

Within my recent discussion of the pros and cons of the proposed switch to flat 128 draws next season, one of the factors that I considered was the practical point of where the early round matches will be played.

Carter Takes On Fu in 2013 German Masters Final

Following their respective victories against Neil Robertson and Barry Hawkins yesterday, Ali Carter takes on Marco Fu this afternoon in the final of the 2013 German Masters.

For my fellow UK readers, the afternoon session will not be broadcast live on Eurosport, so I would recommend that you watch via a live stream on one of the betting sites, such as bet365, or Betfair. Alternatively, highlights will be broadcast on Eurosport at 5pm, with the second session to follow live at 7pm.

Enjoy, I have a feeling that it will be a close one…

German Masters 2013: Qualifiers Start Wednesday

Another day, another tournament, today sees the start of the qualifiers for the 2013 German Masters at the EIS in Sheffield, which will run for three days, concluding on Friday.

As explained previously, the qualifiers will be run under a brand new format, probably best explained by simply linking you to the draw which you can view here.

You can view the usual key links on the right-hand side, while you will note that as with the ET6 qualifiers, the points for this event will not count towards the current projected seedings list, instead the next set which I will have at PSB following the UK Championship.
