As is often the case with fledgling tournaments in new territories, October’s India Open will see six local wildcard players involved, drawn at random to play six players from the lowest 32 seeded players, who have not already played a wildcard this season.
Courtesy of snookerorg, the professional players involved have been confirmed, with Scotland’s Anthony McGill being the highest ranked, as well as the likes of Rod Lawler, Liam Highfield and amateur qualifier Jeff Cundy being selected…
Yesterday saw the opening day of the Indian Open qualifiers take place at the Doncaster Dome and as those of you who follow me on Twitter will have noticed, I attended the venue to sample snooker’s newest qualifying venue for myself.

Ahead of the qualifying rounds which will take place at the Doncaster Dome on 11-12 August 2013, World Snooker have today published the drawsheet for the event, which will see matches staged over the best of 7 frames as players battle it out to reach the venue.
