Amateur Career
China’s Yan Bingtao first entered a professional event at the age of just 13, defeating Australia’s Vinnie Calabrese at the 2013 AT1 event before losing to Ding Junhui in the second round.
Further appearances followed at Asian Tour events, as well as wildcard runs at full-ranking events as he defeated the likes of Stuart Bingham, Yu Delu, Barry Pinches and Liang Wenbo to further enhance his growing reputation.
His big breakthrough though came at the 2014 IBSF World Championship, as he defeated Muhammad Sajjad to win the sport’s biggest amateur event and claim a two-year tour card from the start of the 2015/16 season.
