Career Summary

Poland’s Małgorzata Kanieska is becoming one of the most recognisable referees on the European Tour, while she has also been involved in main tour events in recent seasons including the 2014 World Championship qualifiers.

Małgorzata first began watching snooker over ten years ago following Eurosport’s increased coverage of the game in the early 2000’s and was inspired to attend a refereeing course in order to learn the rules of the game.

Her first professional match came in Prague at the 2010 EPTC6 event, before she made her televised début a year later at her home tournament, the PTC6 event in Warsaw.

She cites her most memorable match to date as being that between Judd Trump and Alfie Burden at the 2011 Warsaw Classic, when Judd hit breaks of 135, 105 and 113 (the latter a maximum attempt), on his way to a 4-1 victory.

Other highlights include matches between Mark Selby and Ian Burns at the 2014 Riga Open, Ronnie O’Sullivan’s victory against Michael White in Antwerp in 2013 and also the match between Peter Lines and Xiao Guodong at the 2014 Gdynia Open.

Away from the baize, Małgorzata has studied space engineering and hopes to one day work in the space industry.
