It feels like yesterday since the previous seedings revision following the International Championship earlier this month, but already the next cut-off is moving ever closer, coming after December’s UK Championship.
In fact, for the majority of players on tour, this week’s UK Championship qualifiers will be their last chance to add points to their tally for a crucial cut-off, which will determine the seedings for all of the remaining tournaments this season except the World Championship…
The conclusion of the UKPTC2 event in Gloucester today marked the end of the first stage of the 2012/13 season, with the seedings now revised for the upcoming International Championship, snooker’s newest major, in terms of ranking points and prize money at least. NOTE: The new projected seedings list for the all-important second cut-off, will hopefully follow over the next few days, once confirmation has been received as to the points which will be deducted at that revision.
Following the conclusion of the German Masters yesterday, there is just one event remaining for the players to earn precious ranking points that in some cases could make the difference between having to win one, two, three or four matches to qualify for the Crucible – or none at all.

Ronnie O’Sullivan was much fancied to make it out of the top quarter here in Shanghai but he was upset today by a great performance from Anthony Hamilton who made it through to the last eight. Otherwise though it was a day for the top seeds as five of the provisional top six joined him in the quarters…

Day four from the Shanghai qualifiers as the 32 players involved fight it out for the right to play at the venue stage next month and already through is Jack Lisowski after another terrific performance…
Day three from Sheffield and it has been a bit of a shocker for a number of veteran players as Steve Davis, Tony Drago and Jimmy White have all exited the tournament. There was though another win for Thailand’s James Wattana…
Day three from the Academy has been particularly noteworthy for a couple of withdrawals as both Steve Davis and Anthony Hamilton have opted out of the tournament for unspecified reasons. Meanwhile more information has come to light on the rankings situation I referred to yesterday as I can now 99% confirm that my projected seedings list is accurate…
