Wells handed German Wildcard

A brief post today to confirm that Welsh amateur Daniel Wells has been handed the final wildcard spot for the German Masters and so will face Liu Song in the opening round of the event.

A good selection in my book, Wells is probably best known for his dramatic run to the final qualifying round of the 2009 World Championship where he was unfortunate to lose out to Barry Hawkins in the final round, though Barry’s winning break was excellent under the circumstances.

More recently he has made people sit up and take notice during this season’s Players Tour Championship, easily finishing as the top ranked amateur player and gaining a decent amount of experience against the top players from it.

I would expect to see him back on the main circuit sooner or later…
