Murphy Masterclass while Wenbo keeps Chinese flag flying
Shaun Murphy underlined his Shanghai credentials today with an excellent whitewash of the 1997 world champion Ken Doherty, while Liang Wenbo kept alive his chances of a first ranking event title on home soil. Out though is Ding Junhui, who lost to Ronnie O’Sullivan, while reigning world champion John Higgins saw off Ryan Day once again in China…

Shanghai Masters: Shotgun mauled by Murphy, while Doherty marches on
As the last 16 got underway in Shanghai this afternoon, world number 3 Shaun Murphy sent out a real statement of intent to the rest of the field with a 5-0 whitewash of Jamie Cope as he moved into the quarter-finals in style. Elsewhere, there were also one-sided wins for home favourite Ding Junhui and reigning world champion John Higgins, while Ken Doherty’s resurgence continued as he edged out Barry Hawkins in a decider.

Shanghai Masters: Crafty Ken KO’s Robbo
Former World Champion Ken Doherty continued his good form with a massive 5-4 victory over Australian Neil Robertson earlier. The Irishman will now go on to face either Barry Hawkins or Stephen Maguire in the Last 16. That wasn’t this afternoon’s only surprise result as Mark Selby crashed out to Stuart Bingham.
