A year ago ahead of my tenth year visiting the Crucible Theatre for the World Championship, I took a look back at my first three years between 2005-7, recalling the various experiences that had helped draw me to the sport and ultimately end up writing this blog.
Unfortunately at the time I never got round to part two, so with no further delay, now I look back at my next three years as John Higgins, Ronnie O’Sullivan and Neil Robertson took Crucible glory between 2008-10…
Following Joe Perry’s victory at the 2015 Players Championship today, we are now just one event and one week from knowing the final seedings list for next month’s World Championship, with only one place now up for grabs at the Crucible, but the placement of the seeds in the draw to be determined.
There is also the small matter of a battle for the number one ranking, with Mark Selby needing to win matches in Beijing if he is to retain the top spot ahead of Ronnie O’Sullivan…
Day one of the Players Championship Grand Finals in Thailand and already it has been a potentially significant day in the race for places at the Crucible, with Stephen Maguire surviving what looked to be a tip change at 3-2 down to John Higgins to win 4-3, while Robert Milkins fell at the first hurdle to Chris Wakelin.
He arrived late for his first match before sneaking through on the colours yesterday, but Neil Robertson ended the Gdynia Open in imperious form, six centuries over the course of the tournament helping him to his third European Tour title in Poland…
Following his victory at last weekend’s German Masters, Mark Selby regained the official number one ranking for the third time this season and the sixth time during his career to date.
Already, we have seen the number one ranking change hands on a number of occasions during 2015, with Selby, Neil Robertson and Ding Junhui all having occupied top spot in the last month, but are we now at a point where there too many changes? Has holding on to the top ranking lost some of its prestige?
With the conclusion of the German Masters on Sunday came the fifth seedings revision of the 2014/15 season, which saw Mark Selby return to the world number one ranking for the first time since December’s UK Championship.

Day two of the German Masters and already we are at the conclusion of the last 32 stage, with world number one Ding Junhui one of four top 16 players to fall at the first hurdle in Berlin.

With the start of the 2015 German Masters almost upon us, we are also approaching the latest of this season’s mid-term seedings revisions, with the seedings for the Indian Open, China Open and Shoot Out tournaments set to be determined.
