Following the conclusion of event one of this month’s Q School last Tuesday, yesterday saw another four players book their places on snooker’s main tour for the next few seasons as event two was played to a finish in Burton.

Earlier this week I took a look at some of the battles set to be decided at this weekend’s all-important Gdynia Open event, which is now underway with its amateur rounds having started yesterday.
Tomorrow though sees the entrance of the professionals and with tour cards, Grand Finals spots and Grand Prix places up for grabs, click below for my rolling blog which will be updated throughout the next three days, flagging up the matches and results to keep an eye on and setting out those currently in position to retain a tour card through this list.

Today saw the start of the venue stages of the 2014 German Masters and it was not a day without shocks, as both of last season’s finalists suffered early exits at the Tempodrome.

As is often the case with fledgling tournaments in new territories, October’s India Open will see six local wildcard players involved, drawn at random to play six players from the lowest 32 seeded players, who have not already played a wildcard this season.
Courtesy of snookerorg, the professional players involved have been confirmed, with Scotland’s Anthony McGill being the highest ranked, as well as the likes of Rod Lawler, Liam Highfield and amateur qualifier Jeff Cundy being selected…
Today saw the second event of the 2012 Q School come to a conclusion and four more players confirmed on the main tour for 2012/13, including another in Sean O’Sullivan who will be making his début next season…

So that is round one is over and what a finish we had, a sensational match between Xiao Guodong and Kurt Maflin which saw four straight century breaks this evening. Usually I would prepare a detailed frame by frame report but as those of you following me on Twitter will have noticed, I have been posting frame by frame updates on there so hopefully they will give you the gist of how the matches unfolded.
Instead I offer a few thoughts on the action so far and who could be worth a watch in the coming rounds…
