The first two wildcard matches of the day have now been completed, click below to find out whether the established pros had enough to beat their local opposition…
Both Barry Pinches and Robert Milkins came through their matches without too much trouble this morning, recording 5-1 wins over Ahmed Ghuloom and Ahmed Saif respectively. They managed to make a century each and generally their scoring was far too heavy for their talented, but inexperienced opponents to compete with.
Due to other commitments this morning I will not be able to provide a detailed match report, but you can read what Barry had to say about his match over at World Snooker here.
Barry now plays the recovering Graeme Dott in what looks to be a great chance for him to get another win on TV, while Milkins now has a very tricky encounter with Stoke’s Jamie Cope to come.
In the afternoon matches it was a similar story as both Mike Dunn and Marcus Campbell made century breaks on the way to 5-0 victories. The real story however is that these centuries included a magnificent 147 from the veteran Scot Campbell, click here to read more about it.
Campbell now meets Neil Robertson in the last 32 while Dunn comes up against Ken Doherty, the man who beat him in the 2006 UK Championship.
