As detailed in the World Championship booking form, tickets have today gone on sale online. For details on what exactly appears to be available and how to book, please click below…
*Update*
Since I posted this article the online booking system has been refined and you can both see what is still available and then book it by following this link to go to the Sheffield Theatres website.
If you want the very latest information on what is available however, I would recommend ringing the venue direct on 0114 249 6000.
Where can I buy tickets online?
To find tickets for the World Championship you will firstly need to click this link which will either take you straight to the Sheffield Box Office or to the Sheffield Ticketing Network. I am not sure why but clicking the same link sometimes takes me to one and sometimes to the other!
If it takes you to the Sheffield Ticketing Network:
You should see three options as above, the Sheffield Arena, the Sheffield City Hall and the Sheffield Theatres. Click the bottom link to visit the Sheffield Theatres page and you should see a calendar on the screen. Click through to April and May and you should be able to see what is available.
If it takes you to the Sheffield Box Office:
If you see the page as it looks above, click the quick search section on the right, type snooker and the results on the first and second pages should be the tickets available for the qualifiers at the EISS later this month. At the bottom of page two and then for all of page three you will then find the tickets available for the final stages at the Crucible.
Finally, click the match you are interested in and then follow the on-screen instructions to see what seats are available and book accordingly.
Alternatively:
Alternatively you can also use this page on the Sheffield Theatres website which allows you to check the availability of tickets to any particular match. If there are tickets then it will again take you to the page where you can choose how many tickets you want and view which seats are available. If there are not tickets though then it will just take you to the general online booking form that I linked to previously.
What is available at the moment (Feb 14th)?
Unfortunately the range of matches available online at the moment appears to be quite limited and is as follows:
World Snooker Match 10 – Marco Fu vs Qualifier: 20-04-2009 10:00
World Snooker Match 11 – Ding Junhui vs Qualifier: 20-04-2009 14:30
World Snooker Match 6 – Joe Perry vs Qualifier: 20-04-2009 19:00
World Snooker Match 10 – Marco Fu vs Qualifier: 20-04-2009 19:00
World Snooker Match 11 – Ding Junhui vs Qualifier: 21-04-2009 10:00
World Snooker Match 3 – Peter Ebdon vs Qualifier: 21-04-2009 10:00
World Snooker Match 6 – Joe Perry vs Qualifier: 21-04-2009 14:30
World Snooker Match 16 – Stephen Maguire vs Qualifier: 22-04-2009 19:00
World Snooker Match 4 – Ryan Day vs Qualifier: 22-04-2009 19:00
This is sure to change however as tickets will inevitably be returned between now and the start of the Championship, particularly when the full draw is made next month. Furthermore tickets will also be returned during the tournament as players are knocked out who people have bought tickets for. If Ronnie O’Sullivan were to lose early for example then expect a flood of returned tickets from his section of the draw!
That being said, your best chance of claiming tickets for the most sought after matches will always be to ring the Box Office direct on 0114 249 6000. You might just get lucky and ring them just after they have had some final tickets returned, something which has happened to me on a few occasions…
