Defending champion Jordan Brown came into the Northern Ireland National Championship needing to retain his title if he was to secure top spot at the top of the national rankings and a place on the main tour as a result.
Having led the best of 19 final 5-4 overnight against 2006 champion Dermot McGlinchey, it would now appear that the man from Antrim was able to complete his victory and as the official rankings state here, top spot in the rankings.
This now means that there are just seven remaining spots left to be filled on the tour, eight if Australian Glen Wilkinson does not take up his Oceania spot as was the case last year. One more will be earned this weekend by the winner of the English Play-Offs and the following week we will see the European Championships come to a conclusion so things are really interesting now…
