Having reached the quarter-finals of the first Pro Challenge event this week, Ricky’s next match sees him come up against the ever-popular Jimmy White at The Q Bar in Chester…
As posted on the website of the Chester Chronicle:
“CHESTER snooker fans are in for a treat as two titans of the game prepare to play an exhibition match in the city.
Former six-time World Championship finalist, Jimmy ‘The Whirlwind’ White, is to take on current world number 20 player, Ricky Walden, in a challenge match at newly opened The Q Bar, in Volunteer Street.
And four lucky fans will win the chance to take on The Whirlwind for a frame each when he makes his special appearance, on August 7.
Chester-born Ricky Walden, 26, now based in Bagillt, Flintshire, is co-owner of The Q Bar and will be freshly back from a three-week tour of the Far East to take part in the event at his training base.
A limited release of 140 tickets is available for the special event, with a raffle and auction to be held to decide the four would-be challengers who will win the frame of a lifetime against White.
Lee Gorton, Ricky Walden’s manager and partner in The Q Bar, said: “It’s great for Chester’s snooker fans that Jimmy has agreed to come and play a challenge exhibition match against Ricky.”

It has certainly been a busy summer for Ricky who has already competed in events such as the Sangsom 6 Red event in Thailand, the General Cup International in Hong Kong, the Pro Challenge event in Leeds and the World Games over in Kaohsiung.
Going into the Shanghai Masters as the top seed however, he does avoid having to qualify for the first event of the season and if he chooses can have a break before he gets his ranking event campaign underway in September.
