With the second event of the Pro Challenge Series beginning on August 31st, World Snooker have today made available both the entry list and the draw for what will be the first of their professional tournament to use 6-reds…
As you can see, many of the players who took part in the first event have signed up again, though it is noticeable that both finalists (Stephen Maguire and Alan McManus), have opted to give this a miss. When you add to these the likes of Bjorn Haneveer, Lee Spick, Mark Davis and Graeme Dott who will also be missing, you can see that players are certainly going to pick and choose which events they enter in this competition.
Still, there are a number of newcomers this time around and they include local favourite Ryan Day and Romford’s Mark King, who will represent the top 16 at the event. By my reckoning there are another 13 players involved who did not play in Leeds and these will take the entry list to 47, nearly half of the possible 96 professionals eligible to play.
