The draw for the last sixteen of the 2009 Grand Prix at Glasgow’s Kelvin Hall has just been completed, and has produced a potentially mouthwatering tie.
The highlight of the draw is easily the chance of a match between Ronnie O’Sullivan and John Higgins, in a clash of the current provisional numbers one and two in the world rankings. It does however rely on O’Sullivan beating Jamie Burnett, who at the time of the draw was tied 1-1 with the three-time World Champion.
Elsewhere, there is the clash of Jamie Cope and Mark Allen to look forward to, whilst Mark Williams can look forward to a clash with long time friend Stephen Hendry should he overcome Stuart Bingham. Stephen Maguire’s reward should he beat veteran Nigel Bond is a match with Ding Junhui.
