Congratulations to Judd Trump who has defeated the in-form Australian Neil Robertson to capture the Austrian Open today. Click below for all the results and to read which player joined Neil Robertson in the 147 club over in Wels…
With a last eight line-up which included three world champions, two Championship League winners and 2008 Austrian Open champion Ryan Day, today’s climax to this year’s tournament was always going to be an exciting one and so it proved as newly crowned world champion Neil Robertson and Judd Trump managed to battle their way to the final.
While Neil would rightly have been the favourite however, Judd had beaten some big names already including recent China Open winner Mark Williams and would not have been underestimated by the Australian. Judd though was to prove too strong and although pushed all the way by Neil, was able to power to a 6-4 victory to take another title to add to his 2009 Championship League crown.
With Judd winning the title and Neil having made a 147 break during the tournament you could have been forgiven for thinking that there was no further drama to come out of the tournament. Stuart Bingham though would have something to say about that after his exploits yesterday which saw him match Robertson’s earlier achievement and make a fabulous maximum break to earn a half-share of the €1,500 maximum break prize! Although the reward is not the biggest, as I said following Neil’s 147 break, any maximum is special and Stuart would have enjoyed being able to give the local crowd something extra to shout about.
