It may be later than its usual July date but this October sees the Paul Hunter English Open return to the Northern Snooker Centre in Leeds. Click below to find the entry details for what was one of the highlights of last season for me as a fan…
Entry details can be found over here at Global Snooker.
Last summer I attended this event to watch for a few days and having not attended a pro-am tournament previously I found it to be particularly enjoyable to watch the players in a more relaxed environment, talking to them in the bar between matches and naturally taking a few photos to update my players page!
It was nice to be able to watch not only the bigger players, but also the young, up and coming players such as Michael Wasley who I remember playing very well against Tony Drago who of course was to go on and make waves himself during the 2009/10 season.
The 2009 event was also my first visit to the Northern Snooker Centre and I have to say that I was very impressed by the venue, in particular the main match table which is that used during the 2005 World Championship which is sunken to create a mini-arena that has a lot of character.
As a result therefore I would recommend that any snooker fans in the area should get themselves along to watch the event and if you fancy yourself as a bit of a player, why not enter and see how you fare against some of the top players in action.
