Trailing 3-1 against Ronnie O’Sullivan, it looked as though the impressive run which saw Barry Pinches defeat Mark Williams, Liu Song and Matt Selt already today would end in a final defeat.
Pinches however, who had already lost one PTC final this season had other ideas as he hit back to level following two scrappy frames before coming through to take victory with a run of 64 in the decider.
One of the most likeable guys on the tour, Barry fully deserves the success that has come his way so far this season and with the season barely underway he is already up to 36th in the provisional rankings, 21 places up on his official ranking. As Dave Hendon has pointed out over at Snooker Scene Blog, Barry has also earned £18,600 so far this season, almost as much as during the whole of 2009/10!
For Ronnie O’Sullivan meanwhile it has also been a good weekend as he has closed in on the three players above him in the rankings, all of whom failed to score this weekend for differing reasons.
