Sad news today, as it was announced by World Snooker that former world number two and three-time ranking event winner Ali Carter has recently been diagnosed with testicular cancer.
Due to undergo surgery tomorrow, it goes without saying that I wish the Captain all the best with both the treatment and the subsequent recovery. Having suffered with the effects of Crohn’s disease as he has for a number of years now, it is especially cruel that this has befallen him, but hopefully we will see him fighting fit and back in action on a snooker table as soon as possible.
Ali has today tweeted his thanks to the many well-wishers:
“Thank-you to everyone for there support! Just want to get through this week then I will concentrate on getting better. Love you all!”
“Thank-you all for the continued support, going in for surgery tomorrow afternoon! Will keep you all posted. X”
