Following a rare snooker free week in the wake of Ronnie O’Sullivan’s victory at the ET4 event last weekend, the action resumes on Monday with the return of the 6 Red World Championship, from Bangkok, Thailand.
While not everybody’s cup of tea, the event will again be broadcast by Eurosport and ahead of the Shanghai Masters later this month, sees a stellar line-up of snooker’s top players in action during the group phase.
Among them, Mark Selby, Neil Robertson, Judd Trump, Shaun Murphy, Mark Williams, Stephen Maguire, Ken Doherty, Matthew Stevens, Stuart Bingham, John Higgins, Ricky Walden, Barry Hawkins and of course defending champion Mark Davis have entered the event, as well as a series of other well known professional and amateur players.
My thoughts on 6 Red snooker remain largely as they were a year ago when I wrote this piece, in that I do not see any harm in the event and understand its popularity in Asia, however given a choice between that and 15-red snooker, the latter would win on every occasion.
Still though, it should be worth a watch and you can follow all of the latest results and group tables at snooker org by clicking here.
