Today saw 16 become two at the George Scott Snooker Club in Liverpool as the Pro Challenge Series continued…
Evening
Despite a brave effort from Daniel Wells, Nottingham’s Michael Holt was able to record a 5-4 victory this evening to book his place in the final of this week’s Pro Challenge event in Liverpool where he will meet either Adrian Gunnell or Barry Hawkins…
And it has now been confirmed over at Global that Barry Hawkins has emerged from that match as the winner, also following a ninth and deciding frame! Should be a good final…
Day Two Results from Global Snooker:
Semi Finals
SF1 – Michael Holt 5-4 Daniel Wells
SF2 – Adrian Gunnell 4-5 Barry Hawkins
Afternoon
This evening’s semi-finals will see Michael Holt take on Welsh youngster Daniel Wells and Telford’s Adrian Gunnell come up against world number 17 Barry Hawkins.
It is probably fair to say that Holt and Hawkins will go into those matches as the favourites to progress, particularly as the pair dropped just one frame each today from their two matches played. Daniel Wells however is a talented young player, one of many from Neath at the moment, and despite a below par season on the ranking event circuit which looks set to end in his relegation from the tour, he could cause an upset if he gets off to a good start. Adrian Gunnell too is no mug, indeed to defeat the in-form Tony Drago earlier on today he must have found some form.
That said however I would expect Hawkins and Holt to progress and if pushed I would make Barry the favourite to take home the trophy…
