The event, the replacement for the Grand Prix, certainly lives up to Barry Hearn’s stated intention of trying to introduce new formats to the sport and it will be interesting to see not only how the invited amateur players will fare, but indeed whether the shorter format matches will attract larger crowds to the SECC than we have seen in the past.
