Not long to go now until the start of the first PTC event tomorrow and whilst browsing on the World Snooker website this evening I have noticed that there is now a ranking points schedule for the event on display…
Yes the ranking points schedule can be found over at World Snooker and is as follows:
Winner: 2,000
Runner-up: 1,600
Semi-finals: 1,280
Quarter-finals: 1,000
Last 16: 760
Last 32: 560
Last 64: 360
Is that a sensible amount? Probably as if they were set much lower then the higher ranked players would not be inclined to enter, as was the case during the ill-fated Pro Challenge Series during 2009/10. As it is however, 2,000 points would be welcomed by almost any player as demonstrated by the fact that Joe Perry, Jamie Cope and Peter Ebdon would have finished the season inside the top 16 had they had those extra points.
Meanwhile I’ve still to decide how I am going to keep the rankings up to date, but I am working on it!
