Jimmy White, who thrilled audiences during the 2010 tour, including making a 147 break is delighted he and his fellow Legends will be playing in Gloucester.
“It feels like my home venue”, said White, who played brilliantly in the official Opening Night Exhibition at the venue.
“The Academy is exactly 147 miles from my house and I’ve been clocking up the maximums to visit. And I’ll certainly be doing my best to throw in another ‘max’ on the table too.
“The Academy is a fabulous facility and the Arena which will stage the Legends Night is second to none. The atmosphere in front of a packed house on the Opening Night was a tremendous buzz.
Paul Mount, owner of the Academy is excited by the visit of the Legends saying “We’re absolutely delighted to be selected to stage a Legends event. It will be a thrill for me as well as the fans in the region to see some of the greatest names in the sport and I’m sure there will be a lot of fun on the night as well.”
Jason Francis, promoter of the Legends Tour has announced that Jimmy White, Dennis Taylor, John Parrott, John Virgo and Cliff Thorburn will be appearing at the Academy “for an evening of Snooker, Laughter, and Nostalgia. At the end of the evening one player will earn the title SWSA Legend 2011.
The World’s leading lady referee Michael Tabb, who was a hit with the fans on the Academy Opening Night, will be back to preside over the evening’s play and try and keep the mischievous Legends under some sort of control.
