Although these events tend to pass those in the UK by to some degree, mainly due to the fact that they are not televised over here, tomorrow does see the return of professional snooker as the second of this season’s three Asian Tour events gets underway in China.
With the International Championship looming on the horizon, there is a relatively strong field for this event, with the likes of Ding Junhui, Mark Davis, Joe Perry, Stuart Bingham, Peter Ebdon, Mark Williams, Ricky Walden and Ryan Day amongst those involved.
Although the prize money on offer is relatively low, in terms of the various orders of merit, tour places and Players Championship finals places up for grabs, these events are always far more important to certain players than first meets the eye and it will be interesting to see who can take advantage of the opportunity available to string together a few wins in Haining.
The event will run until this Friday, before the circuit moves on to Chengdu for the season’s biggest event so far next Sunday.
