Career Summary
In 2003, Ingo Schmidt began to play pool in a local pub with his son and having joined a club, was subsequently asked to become a referee. He soon passed his first exams and three years later, passed his first international exam.
The German’s first professional match came at the Paul Hunter Classic tournament in Furth between John Higgins and Kurt Maflin, while he began working for World Snooker at professional events following the creation of the European Tour in 2010.
Ingo has also taken charge of matches at the German Masters in Berlin, most notably the quarter-final between Ding Junhui and Joe Perry in 2014, live on Eurosport.
When not refereeing, Ingo works for Lufthansa, where he has been involved for 25 years and is currently one of the elected members from the staff council.
