Champion of Champions To Hit Coventry, India Deal Close

On a busy day at the Crucible Theatre, World Snooker’s Barry Hearn has announced a new event known as the Champion of Champions tournament, to be staged at the Ricoh Arena in Coventry later this year.

Confirming that a ranking event in India is also close, Barry also discussed the issue of supposed burn out, making clear the professionalism that he expects from snooker’s main tour players going forward if the sport is to continue to grow.

Hearn To Hand Over Haven House Cheque

Barry Hearn, Chairman of Brentwood-based Matchroom Sport, is to present Haven House Children’s Hospice with a cheque for over £120,000 this Thursday (11th October) at 11.00am.

The money has been raised through the hospice’s year-long partnership (2011 – 2012) with World Snooker, which is one of Mr. Hearn’s business interests. Funds were raised in a number of ways from player ‘fines’ to bucket collections and donations from snooker sponsors, including £25,000 from Betfred.

Barry Hearn Announces Asian Order of Merit, Asian PTCs and More

Having earlier formally announced the Wuxi Classic tournament for 2012, Barry Hearn has today carried out a further press conference, detailing three new Asian PTC Events as well as the creation of a new Asian Order of Merit. Barry also confirmed new contracts for the UK Championship and Masters tournaments to remain at the Barbican Centre in York and Alexandra Palace in London respectively.
