World Snooker have today announced that Sheffield’s Brendan Moore will this year take charge of his first World Championship final at the Crucible Theatre.
The current flurry of 147 breaks in the professional ranks shows no signs of abating as first Matthew Stevens and then Ding Junhui added to the collection today at the PTC12 event in Sheffield. Incredibly, this marks the first time that there have been two official maximums recorded on the same day…
EDIT: In fact, this appears to actually be the second time that this is happened as both John Higgins and Stephen Maguire did in fact complete maximums during different tournaments on the 24th March 2000. Thanks to all those who spotted that!

So that’s a wrap from Crucible 2011 and as life slowly goes back to normal after a truly memorable 17 days both on a personal level and from the point of view of the sport, here are a few of my thoughts on that return to normality as well as a few thank yous to those who helped to make the week what it was…
While John Higgins will be appearing in his fifth UK Championship final this Sunday, according to Dave Hendon’s twitter, referee Brendan Moore will be donning the white gloves for his first as he hopes to cap off what has been an excellent year for him in style…
