Following his decision to resign his main tour place earlier this year, Australia’s Vinnie Calabrese has today won the 2015 Oceania Championship with a 6-3 victory against Matthew Bolton to earn a fresh two-year professional card from the start of the 2015/16 season.
An interesting bit of news these evening as with the updated world rankings following the Welsh Open, World Snooker have also revealed the news that Australia’s Vinnie Calabrese has given up his main tour card with around two and a months to run and has therefore been removed from the world ranking list.

Although we are still only in September, already taking a look at how this season’s battle is shaping up (particularly with only six European Tour events scheduled to take place this season instead of last year’s eight), there are a few interesting themes developing and therefore I have below taken my first look at just who will need to have a strong finish to the season if they are to remain on tour for 2015/16, with some surprise names currently in the drop zone…
Day one of the 2013 UK Championship and already there has been a notable result from the Barbican Centre in York, as in-form Gary Wilson recorded a 6-0 whitewash against the higher ranked Jamie Jones.
